Remembering

Remembering a child
Born so long ago
Seemingly happy to the end
But in truth it wasn't so

She played her part in life
With a smile on her face
Dressed the way she hated
In ribbons and pretty lace

All she wanted out of life
Was a life all her own
She dreamed of a rebellion
But felt the seeds were sown

Changes were all around her
But never in her life
She felt that she was doomed
To be just and old man's wife

Until the day she heard a song
That freed her soul from fear
And above her grave later on
No one shed a tear
